Yeah, but unfortunately I think it said in the rules that you couldn't have any copyrighted samples lol. So I took out the vocals, making it sound quite empty (and not as good) and then later after the entries were in, BK said that I could have used the vocals after all lol. Respect to BK for hosting those competitions nonetheless, I understand that it's a very complicated process.

Interesting how different everyones background is! It seems most of you started with computers? When I started I didn't even think computers had anything to do with it! I was into the synths, wondered where these mysterious sounds came from! Despite this, the music which must have influenced me back then was from the very same machine Aquila just unearthed (ours is still around, haven't powered it up in ages tho!) :P

I suppose everyone starting now will be working with computers from the off, which is sure to influence thier musical style. I accept now that computers are the only practical way to build big mixes and get the results you want, but I wonder if people using them from the start mabye use them as more than just a tool :?: . Interesting stuff anyhow :ugeek:

Yeah, sadly they weren't mine. They belonged to an old amiga demo called Lech by a group called The Freezers. I sorta remixed it a bit though.

Righto, here's a few. I'm very nervous posting these though coz they really do suck badly. They also reek of 8-bit sample quality.

First one is Find New Ways. Apparently I was into happy hardcore. Apparently. Sadly, it shows.

Second is DruMental. Sounds like an attempt at downtempo euro-style trance. Sorta has a funky groove to it but ends up somewhat empty.

Next is No Tomorrow. A sort of melodic concoction of random movie samples. I guess this one most reflects the style of music I make nowadays but it's very drab and floppy.

Also there's Sewer Party. More happy hardcore it seems. Plus a strange recording of myself in the loo. WTF.

Finally there's To Mother Russia. Back then I thought this was the bomb! It had everything: vocal samples from a cartoon, a couple orchestral bars and gratuitous samples from K-Klass and JX. Unfortunately, it ended up as a cacophonous pile of shite.

Mmmmmmkay, now I think this is the last time I expose my past self. I recall having a similar thread a while back. Enjoy (or not).

This was the first track I remixed, I think around 1998:

And here's the remix:

Also this is the earliest tracks I have. All from 1997. I have lost all of my older tracks (around 140 tracks). These were made with Impulse Tracker.
