Show us your bits! - The music equipment thread

Postby Mo » Mon Aug 20, 2012 2:43 am

So, what equipment do you own/use for writing & playing music? Computers, musical instruments, vst's, DAWS, sequencers, Sound Editors, mixing desks, outboard hardware (effects units etc).... list them all here, and show photos too if possible!

Go!
This is my fucking signature.

Toshiba Satellite Laptop, KRK Rokit 5 Studio Monitors, Korg Kaoss Pad Quad, Korg Kaoss Pad (KP3), Korg NanoPad, Korg Monotron, Akai APC40, Evolution X-Session, Novation ReMote 25SL, Presonus Firepod (not visible, under the bottom board on a shelf)... and most importantly: Sully from Monsters Inc.

a demonic gargoyle that starts roaring and speaking in a deep evil voice when activated on the left speaker and TMNT's Michelangelo (because he's a party dude!) on the right one.

I built the two boards holding my gear with a double tiered keyboard stand. i have keyboard stands holding up my monitors.

I began messing with Fruity Loops and Sonic Foundry Acid (yes, they were not under Sony yet) back in 1999. Started using Reason in about 2006 along with FL and Acid. At this time, I started to mess around with Ableton, but only for live performances. It wasn't until late 2010 when I started to mess around and write with it. From 2011 on, I am strictly an Ableton only kinda guy when it comes to writing as well as performing.

I use a lot of Native Instruments stuff... Reaktor (especially Razor and Lazer Bass), Battery, Massive, FM8, Maschine a lil bit

I also use Arturia's Minimoog and Sonivox's Wobble VSTS. Illformed Glitch. Telsa Pro. Izotope's Stutter Edit and Ozone Mastering

Before I got my Axiom 25, the CS1x was my MIDI controller. It's got some nice sounds, but generally it's rather thin sounding.

Yep, that's pretty much it. A nanoKontrol and my left speaker since the right died on me a few years ago.

Yet, using this equiment, I got about 10 house tracks released with another three pending, completed one Lockdown album with another one in progress.

While I would certainly love a better computer, I wouldn't trade my audio system for anything below something miraculous.
I know every frequency by heart and how everything should sound.

yeah!

Later edit: I only use Ableton when I want to perform tracks live to my loving crowd (the wall).
I've been an FL user since ten years ago and never looked back!
