Genres Added

Postby lothario » Tue Feb 15, 2011 3:03 pm

Go to your track manager. Some things have changed, and please test if it works.

I've added Genres, when you upload a track.

To update your current tracks in the Track Manager, select your track in the playlist, and click Edit. In the editor you can now select the track genre. If you hover over the genre name, you can read a description of the genre (note: this does not work on Chrome)

I've only included main electronic genres, and a few alternatives. If you think a genre is missing, please let me know here.

Psychedelic.

An option would be cool to be able to replace an already published track with an updated/finsihed one. So it wouldn't loose the info/reviews/ratings.

Yeah, I had thought about that. I'll make sure it will be possible soon.

EDIT: The problem is though, that if you update the track with a significantly changed version, then does my rating still count, or would I have to revise my vote? I would then need to be somehow notified that a change has been made....

Do you mean the 'Edit' link? Or was the edit page blank?

In the future I will add the functionality, so everybody can 'choose' the genre of a track, if they feel it is wrong. This will help update the genres of tracks, whose creator is not around/bothered. It will also (hopefully) improve the playlists created.

I was thinking, that the artist who created the track must be 'downvoted' by three other users, before the genre is changed, unless it is the default genre: electronic. I would prefer that 0 tracks had the Electronic genre.

Agreed.

What exactly do you mean by Downvoting? Can you elaborate?

F.ex. if an artist chooses Drum And Bass for his track, then it would take at least 3 users choosing Breakbeat to change the genre from Drum And Bass to Breakbeat. However if he chose Electronic, then it would only take 1 user changing the genre to Breakbeat. Of course if multiple genres have more votes than the original, the genre with most votes are displayed.
