The site

Postby Mo » Tue Oct 01, 2013 11:22 am

So.... Is this place finally dead, or on its knees begging for help?

Is it time to call this site a day and invest time into the Facebook page, or do we work to revive this place?

Thoughts?

Anyone?

it saddens me the place isn't doing so well, Lothario seems to have vanished and we rarely get any activity on the forums.

My annual web hosting fee is due again this December and I'm unsure whether to keep going or pull the pin.

Maybe for now, we should have a Homepage with a link to the facebook group and social music profiles of the active members.

Aquila, how much does the hosting fee costs?

If the hosting of the website was free, I'd definitely say yes to renewing. However, since that's not the case, I'm less certain :(

I think Jesse's comment is quite important - what would we use for future competitions if not the website?

The only problem is who can host the comps? Nobody has access to the competition controls except Lothario. The whole thing would have to shift to a pseudo facebook/soundcloud thingy.

I did think about archiving the site to a subdirectory and then creating some sort of mockup front page that somehow integrates the facebook page and other feeds.

Hey Aquila, that sounds like a good idea, do you need some help with html?,

Not sure yet. Was thinking of maybe investigating some dynamic CMS or something similar.

Hey, sorry about the absence. I think a combination of less time, and not producing music anymore have put this site on hold for me. I am sorry this has put a stop for competitions, I actually think Aquila has access to the controls as an admin, but now I'm not so sure.

However I think if we moved the domain-name to a cheaper server (I can get one in denmark that costs about £15 a year, which I would gladly pay), and scraped the site down to be competition only, that might be the best solution right now. But it will require someone to administer the site, and create and manage competitions.

How does that sound?
