Songbird

Postby Songbird » Sun Nov 22, 2009 6:49 pm

Figured I may as well upload this.

Yes, the track is called Songbird. Yes, my name on here is Songbird also, but the track is not about me or for me. I am currently getting various people to do BVs for this and so, as yet, there are no vocals in it. It is a bit of a blank (ish) canvas. Meh!

It's still a demo version at the moment and needs a few more instruments added into it once I've got everybody's vocals, but you get the idea. I'm interested to know of any feedback on it too.

Just realised that I was too lazy to even bother fading this out. Oh well.

Meh!

1. Yeah I noticed that after I uploaded it, but when I was listening to it through awesome speakers in my studio, it sounded fine - must rethink
2. That piano bugs me - I think it clips in the breakdown too.
3. Stringy string stringy
4. Aw shucks, man. Thank you :P

I am thinking of panning the percussion so that it sounds more like it has been played in a room. I am also thinking of adding more percussion. Yay - percussion!

yeah i hear that there is a lot of sub bass, but sadly thats not audible on smaller systems/cars/radios/mp3 players.

It can be fixed by transposing the bass or adding another layer of bass an octave up, so you can hear it more easily. or using a bass that has much more harmonic content (cello, bass guitar, saw wave...) or... or... or....

so did you make this all by yourself?

OMG! I was just thinking that perhaps a cello might work! Great minds think alike!

I feel like all of the elements are too "in your face" to get the feeling you were trying to achieve. They all compete, and there's nothing really "in the background" so to speak.

I really love the percussion that plays throughout the song. You don't hear that kind of groove in music anymore.

keep at it!

Like this. :)
Dig the melodic lines a lot and like the elements you chose to use.
The stereo setup feels kinda weird.
Mostly talking about the centered pecussions and the full left-panned heartbeat.

Yup. That's all good feedback. The mix needs a definite tweaking. I do need to keep at it.

Cheers

Nothing new from me. I like it, the piano is deffo too high up there but the rest is a clap-clap for you, buddy. Reminds me of Massive Attack - Psyche (Original Mix). Just heard it at their concert a couple of weeks ago. Thinking about vocals on this one?
